Thanks Erika...... :) Glad you are back on line. Panic set in thinking where am I going to get advice about Norma now....lol.
We decided to stick with Norma Toille. She suits her name now. The photo's don't do her justice she is a beautiful blue.
She is still a bit skittish refusing to go anywhere near my finger. Flys to the furthest corner of the cage away from me. I keep trying everyday though. The food thing is the same. Tried apple .....not touched it. Tried millet not touched it. Running out of ideas....xxx

Just keeping going!! A year on and only now has Lilly started to touch the veg!!! My other budgies love it!!

I tammed Emily and Bertie using millet but if Norma doesnt like it then it makes things a little harder!!

Even now if I dont work with Emily & Bertie every day they go backwards!!

Do you put your hand right up to her, or just rest it in the cage? You might want to start by just resting it in the cage for short periods, like 5-10 mins at a time, until she calms down when its in the cage. Then slowly start moving your hand closer and closer :)
Re Veggies, i know a lot of people on this forum have had a lot of successs blending veggies up, just in the food processor, a quick whizz till it is all chopped up :)

I will give that a try Erika. She will let me stroke her once before she flys off. Funnily she will let me stroke her for ages with a cotton bud !! Will try the hand thing. Thought about putting the millet in my hand to see if she eats it but seeing how she won't come near me I thought I'd leave it for awhile. I don't want to stress her out..... Other than that she is happily chirping away. She loves it when football is on. Thats when she chirps the loudest....lol

hahaha which team does she go for :P

Ive got two budgies, 4 years old, they belonged my sisters friend, who took them on (as a group of four) when her friend moved to a place she couldnt keep them. They havent been neglected, but they havent had much attention, mostly left to themselves. So now there are two left, they dont like people much so i have a lot of work ahead of me!
At the moment im just slowly trying to give them neutral experiences with my hands... giving them their veggies each day, moving very slowly. At the moment they are mostly just watching my hands when theyre in the cage, my next step is to try leaving my hands in the cage for 5-10 mins at a time.
i am pretty sure they like me coming up and talking to them :)

So i guess im at a similar point to where you are now, just slowly getting them used to me. Ill be looking after them for a year (and hope my sister will let me have them after then, because i think they'll be better off with me) so i have a long time to work with my two! I guess the difference is that i have two scaredy cats at a time :P and that theyre quite set in their ways, being 4 years old. but im pretty sure i can bring them around :) eventually!! :P

Millet is a good idea, im going to use it with mine eventually. I dont think thayve had it very often, ive put in two sticks so far and it takes them a few days to go through it. I can tell you, my other budgies (well, mum's now) would have DEMOLISHED a millet each in one day if they were allowed :P but as mine arent excited about it, i think ill have to offer it to them more often, until they know how tasty it is and will be willing to come to me for it :P

LOL....Found out today she also likes Adele ( Great taste ). My mum's budgie goes mad when she puts her hand in his cage but he also nips her. Thankfully Norma just flys away. I am going to try with the millet tomorrow. Will let you know how I get on....x
